No one can resist gourmet marshmallows!

When I offer someone a taste of my gourmet marshmallows, I’m occasionally met with someone who says “I don’t like marshmallows.” And I think what they mean is they don’t like the bags of tasteless fluffy treats you can find in the grocery store (not to knock them, they have their place in the world and can certainly fill the need for a marshmallow emergency).

The Marshmallow Stigma

There’s a slight problem that people have grown up thinking that marshmallows are nothing more than what they find in the grocery store. They come in 1 flavor, maybe a few colors and for the most part they’re a mound of soft powdery sweetness with a slight chemical aftertaste.

Changing Minds

The truth of the matter is, I absolutely love when I run into these people. Because when I implore them to take a taste of a homemade gourmet marshmallow I can see a light in their eyes and a shift in their attitude as they discover how different marshmallows can be from what they thought a marshmallow was.

The World of Gourmet Marshmallows

There’s an explosion of flavor as you take a bite out of a gourmet marshmallow coupled with a comforting chew that’s more substantial than what you might find in grocery stores. I put a topping on many of my marshmallows to give an extra crunch or sensation to break up the pure softness of the marshmallows.

Flavor Experiments

I’ve recently started experimenting with melding two flavors together to give an extra dimension to the taste profile of the marshmallow. I’m testing a peaches and cream with a peach base and a cream flavor on top all topped off with tasty peach cobbler crunchies. I’m also trying out a lemon lavender marshmallow with a lavender base and swirls of lemon marshmallow mixed in. I love these experiments they really change up the dynamic of what you might think a marshmallow is.
