The endlessly versatile world of Marshmallows

Rows of mini cotton candy marshmallows

You “just” do marshmallows? With a name like California Marshmallow Company you might think that all we can possibly sell are stand-alone marshmallows. You might think sure, they come in multiple flavors, but there’s a limitation to just selling marshmallows. And of course this would be an incorrect line of thought. There is a whole world of marshmallows and the endlessly versatile world of marshmallows is pretty extensive.

Like most cooks, I thrive on creativity and experimenting with new options, and when I started looking into marshmallows, I fell into a rabbit hole of marshmallow possibilities.

Stand Alone Versatility

The stand-alone marshmallow is an endless source of creativity by itself. If I were to just focus on selling nothing but marshmallows I’d find a wealth of creative options.

Insides & Outsides

There are of course, the the different flavors options, but there are also the topping combinations that truly elevate the marshmallow into a heightened gourmet experience. Favorites include the heath bar on top of the caramel marshmallow or the

mini vanilla marshmallows on top of the hot chocolate marshmallow. And thinking about toppings got me thinking about insides, I’ll soon be experimenting with filled options so you can sink your teeth into a different texture and flavor when biting into a flavored marshmallow.

Peaches & Cream Marshmallows

Flavor Combos

And there are the flavor combinations that are incredibly fun to play around with. Think Lavender mixed with lemon, or peach mixed with cream, or chocolate mixed with strawberry. There are endless ways you can mix and match flavors and try to find the optimal balance of excellence.

Size Matters

Different sizes also mean different things. From large 2” cubes, to small bite size pieces. Or 3” coasters to drop on top of a hot drink, the different sizes can mean new ways to think about toppings or inserts.

Recipe Explorations

And of course, there’s the standard recipe that could be available to more people. I’m currently working on a vegan option. The experiments I’ve done so far have been on the edge of disaster, but I’ll stick with it and I think there’s a way to debut a new vegan option in the very near future.

Chocolate Improves Everything

Various Chocolate Covered Marshmallows

But of all these options, so far, my favorite stand-alone option is the chocolate covered

marshmallows. Oh my goodness, chocolate covered strawberry, raspberry, banana, orange, coffee, caramel, or even vanilla elevates the marshmallow to a roll-your-eyes-to-the-back-of-your-head-experience.

Marshmallow Bakery Treats

Bakery Options

So while there are endless ways to be creative with stand-alone marshmallows, there are also countless ways to incorporate marshmallows into baked treats or candies. From brownies and cookies, to candies and cake jars there is a world of desserts that marshmallows fit into that is waiting to be explored and I’m excited to pursue every marshmallowy recipe possible.

Limitations?

So when someone thinks that the California Marshmallow Company is limited in it’s offerings and creativity I full-heartedly challenge that notion and counter that there’s not enough time in the day to exhaust the world of marshmallows.
